Our Educational Programs
Fort Dobbs is pleased to offer a variety of educational programming that brings a glimpse of colonial frontier life to the classroom.
Field trips are available for groups of up to 90. A basic tour of the fort is free, but addition demonstrations, such as a musket firing or marching drill, may be added at a rate of $2 per student per demonstration (plus tax.)
Our JUNIOR HISTORIAN (.pdf) program is designed for families and homeschoolers to complete on their own time before and during a visit to Fort Dobbs. Those who complete at least 8 of the 12 activities in the packet will receive an official “Fort Dobbs Junior Historian” certificate from a staff member.
For those who cannot visit in person, a VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP (link) experience is available!
A series of videos exploring the history of Fort Dobbs and the lives of the people living on the NC frontiers during the French and Indian War allows students to visit digitally.
